The village of Dundalk is located just an hour north of Toronto and is the largest community within the Township of Southgate.
Southgate includes the communities of Conn, Hopeville, Holstein, Proton Station, Dromore and Varney. This rural township hosts many great annual events including the Dundalk Fall Fair, Dundalk Oktoberfest, Holstein's Maple Sugar Festival, and the Holstein Ag Expo & Rodeo. Every 10 years Dundalk hosts their Homecoming Weekend with the next one to be held in 2027. Southgate is also home to the Full Throttle Speedway at Varney - the only speedway in Ontario to feature a 33° high-bank asphalt racing surface.
On a summer Saturday morning, take a drive throughout Southgate Township and visit the many produce stands that sit along the sides of the roads. Southgate is home to a large Mennonite community who offer fruits and vegetables, baked goods, and flowers at the end of their driveway's. Misty Meadows in Conn is a wonderful spot to grab freshly prepared soups, sandwiches and more, as well as to purchase local goods and groceries from the Mennonite community.
Golfing is a great summer activity in the Southgate area with two very busy golf courses - the Homestead Golf and Winter Resort located between Thistle and Varney, and the Dunadel Golf Course located just outside Dundalk.
Southgate is a growing township with many new homes and amenities being built within the town of Dundalk.
